Ministry of Food & Agriculture has launched its Training Capacity Program under the auspices of Agribusiness Development & Diversification Project at International Islamic University . Islamabad on 10th November, 2008. Senior Officials of the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Agribusiness Development & Diversification Project and PHDEB were also present on the occasion of the inauguration of the training program. The six days long training workshop is conducted with the cooperation of the International Islamic University Islamabad

Agribusiness Development & Diversification Project is a brainchild of Ministry of Food and Agriculture working in Collaboration with Pakistan Horticulture Development & Export board, is conducting a six days training program for the principals of selected polytechnic colleges, commerce colleges, vocational training institutes of Punjab ,Sindh , Balochistan , NWFP ,AJK , FANA ,FATA for the capacity building of farmers and exporters.

The overall focus of the training program is on strengthening and supporting demand driven private sector service delivery mechanisms throughout the agribusiness value chain including: credit and loan facility, supply inputs, production and processing, and developing cool chain for domestic and export markets with specific focus on 'Horticulture and Hortibusiness' and 'Livestock and Dairy business'

This training workshop will be followed by training of the farmers and the exporters in the selected areas through out Pakistan through these GCC's and vocational training Institutes.

Agribusiness Development and Diversification Project is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Government of Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank, the Project aims at enhancing economic growth and fostering employment generation through development of a competitive and sustainable agribusiness sector. For effective coordination with provincial governments and private sector, interventions are carried out through project implementation offices in all the provinces and special areas of the country.
